Abstract: Power injection of iodinated contrast media through IV access is often associated with the risk of contrast extravasation. Potential causes include: Improper vessel selection; Insecure device fixation; Patients moving their limbs post cannulation leading to dislodgement; Limited selection of veins due to therapeutic treatment; High-speed contrast injection; Patient factors such as age, gender and BMI can affect PIVC placement. Frequency rates for CT contrast extravasations is 0.1-1.2%
