Monash Children's welcome activity book: Co-design in action.

Abstract

Whilst talking with our young patients it became evident that none of the information regarding the hospital and the safety messages that we wanted to convey were delivered in a child friendly way – all the information was targeted at parents/ carers – Adults! Nurses offered verbal bedside education but there wasn’t a child friendly written resource avaialble to supplement this It was important for the Children’s program to provide something for our young patients so that they felt included, valued, safe and empowered. An opportunity to develop a resource that included key safety messages and information about staying in hospital, in a child-friendly fun way was identified.
