Imaging MRI suite design: VIC Heart Hospital.

Abstract

The MMC Chief Radiographer and MRI Network Supervisor have been involved in the structural and design consultation of the MRI suite at the Victorian Heart Hospital. The new MRI suite will have a sky celing feature whereby an image will be seen on the ceiling for patients to view. The sky ceiling image is valuable to the patient experience to create a sense of calm and distraction. A Victorian theme for the ceiling was chosen and from many images, 7 images were chosen to be voted upon to be selected as the feature image. We saw it as an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders of imaging including staff, patients, carers and family members and of course with our long-standing Consumer Representative for Imaging, Angela McAvoy AM.
