Two illustrative cases are described - one acute presentation that was transferred to theatre emergently and another child with a late presentation. Both suffered serious complications requiring prolonged hospitalisation. The pathophysiology and epidemiology of paediatric button battery ingestion is then reviewed, followed by a discussion of clinical features, potential complications, and recommendations for emergency department management. | Conference Start Date: | 2012-11-19 | Conference End Date: | 2012-11-22 | DOI: | http://monash.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/1742-6723.12070 | ISSN: | 1742-6731 | URI: | https://repository.monashhealth.org/monashhealthjspui/handle/1/27893 | Type: | Conference Abstract |
