Clinical presentation, pathogenesis and management of BIFF are discussed. We also highlight the importance of imaging the contralateral femur, as these patients may need prophylactic surgical fixation of the contralateral femur.Copyright © 2020 The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists | DOI: | http://monash.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/1754-9485.12996 | PubMed URL: | 32043320 [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=32043320] | ISSN: | 1754-9477 | URI: | https://repository.monashhealth.org/monashhealthjspui/handle/1/29359 | Type: | Note | Subjects: | medical history osteoporosis prophylactic surgical procedure walking weight bearing bisphosphonic acid derivative long term care bone necrosis bone radiography bone stress emergency ward femur femur subtrochanteric fracture fracture fixation leg pain |
