Abstract: Paediatric renal ultrasound is a very common examination through the public and private sectors. When performed to a high standard, it can make a significant difference to the diagnosis and management of a symptomatic child. This workshop will review the normal renal anatomy and discuss common renal pathologies, especially hydronephrosis. The grading criteria of hydronephrosis and its significance will be covered. The importance of assessing the kidneys with a linear transducer will be demonstrated. This workshop aims to increase sonographer's confidence in paediatric renal examinations. Additionally, techniques and tips to scan paediatric patients of different ages will be discussed.
